Joining the Turkish Naval Forces in 1996, İsmail DUT had served for the TUR Navy Special Operations Force Unit (SAT) since 1999. Over the course of his 24-year period of active duty, he participated in special operations, joint exercises, and active duties in Lebanon, Libya, Kosovo, Albania, and the Gulf of Aden. In 2007, he transitioned into the role of instructor, and in 2015, he was appointed as the master chief instructor at the Turkish Navy Special Warfare Command (SAT) Training Center. Throughout his years in active duty, he has been honored with two Outstanding Achievement Service ribbons and numerous medals. Combining his scientific expertise with operational field experience, İsmail DUT graduated from Istanbul University’s Faculty of Sports Sciences in 2014. He subsequently pursued a master’s degree in Exercise and Training Science at Marmara University and continued his doctoral studies at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, also in Exercise and Training Science, with a focus on enhancing the athletic performance of military and law enforcement personnel Since 2021, he has been working as the director of CANiK Academy while also continuing his academic work as a lecturer at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa’s Faculty of Sports Sciences. His research and instructional expertise encompass a wide range of subjects, including tactical shooting, tactical fitness, athletic performance, close combat, and mental resilience. DUT joined the Naval Forces in 1996, has served as an Underwater Assault Commando (SAT) since 1999. During his active duty period, he participated in special operations in many regions such as Lebanon, Libya, Kosovo, Albania and the Gulf of Aden and showed outstanding success in many missions. He received the title of “SAT Trainer” in 2007 and was appointed as “SAT Head Instructor” in 2015. Due to his success in his duties, he was awarded with many medals and two outstanding achievement badges. İsmail DUT completed his undergraduate degree in Sports Sciences at Istanbul University in 2010, completed his master’s degree at Marmara University, Department of Movement and Training Sciences. He is currently continuing his doctoral studies at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Department of Movement and Training Sciences. He has conducted many academic studies on improving the athletic performance of military and law enforcement personnel and has made valuable contributions in his field of expertise. After his retirement, he has been serving as CANIK Academy Director since 2021. His areas of expertise include tactical shooting, mental endurance, tactical fitness, athletic performance and close combat.
